Hi, I’m Julia! I’m a designer and researcher driven by curiosity and a love of learning. I’m always exploring ways to incorporate a sense of play into the experiences I create while prioritizing usability to include the widest audience.
My “Why”
It frustrates me that inaccessible streaming platforms get between the Beatles and my grandpa.
He loves listening to music more than anything in the world, but he can’t press play until he wrestles with tech that’s unintuitive and incompatible with his hearing aids. My time spent helping him navigate digital spaces motivates me to contribute to a future of technology that is both accessible and enjoyable to everyone.
Technology should make things simpler. I strive to harness my skills in design, programming, user research, organization, and communication to make meaningful change. I’m especially passionate about reducing barriers to access on platforms with a captive audience, and creating spaces for community and connection online.
Offline, you’ll often find me setting type for a letterpress printing project, designing production materials for my local theatre company, playing Bananagrams with my friends, practicing my hand lettering, learning a new crochet stitch, or singing along to a Beatles song with my grandpa.
